Spring 2013 Gypsy Moth Spray Notification

(You may have gotten something like this in the mail)

A spray certified for organic gardening will be applied by an aerial applicator hired by our office. One of the places will fly near or over your home or business to spray trees in the area. These planes fly very low- just above the treetops. Flight times will begin after sunrise and continue as long as conditions are favorable or the spraying is completed. The spray date will be anytime from mid May through early June and announced on the office telephone and as a public service announcement on these local ratio stations- (98.5 FM, 100.3 FM, 101.1 FM, & 1230 AM)

Tha spray product certified for organic use is not toxic to humans, pets, other animals, fish, birds, or non-targeted species. The product contains Bacillus thuringienis var. karstaki or Btk, which is naturally occurring soil bacterium that interferes with the gypsy moth caterpillars' digestive system. You can stay indoors if you prefer or leave the area until the spraying is completed.

Thank you for your cooperation

Additional information may be acquired at the office or see your local Township Hall for a county-wide map showing the spray locations.
