Introductory Period
Purpose: To ensure proper training of new personnel so that they are properly acclimated to the organization and to determine if the mutual relationship between the Houghton Lake Ambulance Authority and the staff member should continue.
Policy: All new hires of the Houghton Lake Ambulance Authority will participate in a ninety (90) day introductory period. The employee will be evaluated during this time, and at the end of the period a determination will be made as to whether the employment will continue.
Procedure:
I. Standards.
a. During the first ninety (90) days of employment, qualifications and abilities are carefully evaluated relative to work assignments and our environment. Supervisors will provide employees with information about standards and expectations that are required for each job. All employees are encouraged to ask questions and get clarifications of policies and expectations.
b. During the initial Introductory Period, and any time thereafter, employment may be terminated at the option of either the employee or the Houghton Lake Ambulance Authority.
c. Employees will be evaluated at the conclusion of the Introductory Period, at which time all relevant training should be completed.
d. During the Introductory Period, all employees are expected to become familiar with the Houghton Lake Ambulance Authority policies, including those outlined in this Handbook.
e. In exceptional circumstances the Introductory Period may be extended an additional 90 days.
