In case you were wondering...
Everyone must receive a tax statement, even if your taxes are paid from an escrow account, IT IS THE LAW.
To determine if your mortgage company has been mailed a copy of your tax bill there will be a mortgage code on the bill (click on link below). If there is a number next to "Mort Code:" then your mortgage company has been mailed a duplicate. If there is not a number, then we need to know as soon as possible, if your taxes are indeed paid from an escrow account. If your taxes are not paid by from an escrow account then there will not be a number next to "Mort Code:" on your tax bill.
It is to your benefit to receive a copy of your tax statement for a couple of reasons:
1. It allows you to verify that your mortgage company is paying your taxes on time and for the correct amount.
2. It also keeps you informed of your Property Tax amount, whether or not you are receiving Homestead, your Taxable and State Equalized Values, and current Millage Rates.
If you have any questions please contact the Treasurer's office by calling (989) 422-4116, Monday thru Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
